a weight watchers update

a weight watchers update. I started weight watcher's on Feb 20 (read about why and what I've learned so far) . I've been at it for about 6 weeks and in that time I've definitely had my ups and downs.  But overall the trend is downward. So I'm happy.

Going into it my goal was to get back on track: choosing healthy snacks and getting back to making my own meals at home. We were eating out WAY TOO MUCH. I was feeling the extra 15-20 pounds of winter, and knew once spring hits, there is limited time to spend cooking and working out, so I wanted to get a jumpstart before spring hits and our life gets CRAZY.

I also wanted to increase my activity. I was in a bit of a slump, going to yoga about once a week, and walking on my treadmill when the feeling struck me. Definitely not as much activity as I should be getting.

Things are looking up in that department. I am going to spin every Tuesday morning, I'm teaching yoga on Wednesday mornings, and I'm trying to attend at least one more yoga class per week.

Now that the weather is warming up, I'm getting outside more, and pretty soon my days will be spent unloading semis and moving plants around (and hopefully into the trunks of people's cars...) My evenings will be spent in my garden, digging in the dirt.

I'm feeling pretty good about heading into spring. Knowing that this time of year, it's impossible to be perfect. There will be Casey's breakfast pizza, there will be donuts and cookies, and there will be grabbing crackers and chips and snacky foods on the go, just to get a bite in. But I know it's ok, because I've got a plan.

I'm half way through my weight watchers 3 month membership and I think it has already done what it is supposed to. I'm aware of the points values of most food I encounter, and when I do choose to indulge I am held accountable knowing I have to track those points, which most times keeps me from overdoing it. I am more conscious of what and how much I am eating. I will just keep at it, doing the best I can.
