I’m a Summer!

Back in February, my good friend Amanda and I went to the House of Colour in Des Moines and were draped with colored scarves to find out our seasons and best colors. I left with a book of color swatches to help guide me when choosing the colors that work best on me. (I’m a summer!)

Around that same time another good friend came to stay for a night and we spent the whole afternoon thrifting. I’d forgotten how much I love thrifting!

Truth is I’ve struggled since my mom passed and becoming a mom myself. I lost some of who I am, I had to put some of my passions and play on the back burner to be a caregiver. I wasn’t doing the things that light me up and give me joy.

Top left: Thrifted top (cornflower) and cardigan (pastel jade) with my Jitters coffee

Middle Top: Garage sale workout top (raspberry)

Right top: Koozie from Running with Bacon (jade)

Bottom left: Jumpsuit from Aerie (lighter pastel jade), cardigan from Grace and Strength Boutique (lilac)

Bottom middle: Green tank from Cabi (Jade)

Bottom right: maxi dress (french navy and soft white) and cardigan both from Goodwill (raspberry)

But since the color consultation and the weekend of thrifting, I’ve been slowly transitioning my closet to clothes that fall into the “summer” colors, more muted, cool colors, lots of pinks, blues, and some purples and greens. And finding lots of pieces at Goodwill or garage sales.

I have used my color swatches to guide me when ordering my color street nail colors too!

I’m just at the beginning of this journey, and excited to keep learning more. In fact, I’ll be doing more learning with a style consult in September.
