How I got to where I am now: My Tupperware Adventure
I didn’t always plan to sell Tupperware, in fact, 3 years ago I probably would have laughed at you if you told me I would be a Tupperware director, driving a Tupperware car, and heading out on a free vacation to Hawaii, all on Tupperware. Not possible, I would have said.
It all started in 2013, when we got married in Las Vegas at the top of the Stratosphere.
After we got married, we both quit our full time jobs, moved to the old farm house Dave grew up in, completely renovated it, bought a business (Natural Plus Nursery) and started running it together. What does any of that have to do with Tupperware, you ask?? Well, prior to that, we worked for 2 years paying off over $70,000 in debt (school loans, 2 car loans, and a credit card). In hindsight, the debt snowball we attacked set us up financially to take a risk to buy the nursery and give us some flexibility to start making more choices about how we spend our time. Owning a small business is so much work, but I love that we are in charge of our future. If you want to hear more about our debt free journey, just ask!
In Oct of 2014, we got pregnant, and were excited to start our family. Then the worst possible thing happened. I went to hear my baby’s heartbeat at my 27 week check, and there wasn’t one.
We were devastated.
That is the lowest I have ever been in my life, and we are still healing, and probably always will be.
In June of 2015, a few short months after losing David, I discovered Tupperware. I wanted the serving center, but didn't want to pay full price for it. SO, I had a party, then my sister had a party, then I just had to have more and more of it. I decided to join to fill up my kitchen. Looking back, after losing our first child and suffering grief heavier than anything i had ever felt, I realized that life is too short to spend your days doing things you don’t love. I decided that from then on I refuse to live my life out of fear, out of the unknown, out of the what if’s.. what if? Honestly the worst “what if” had already happened to me, so I felt like i had nothing to lose. I wanted to pursue my passions for marketing, social media, cooking and Tupperware became such a positive in my life. I was learning about myself, but I still wasn’t confident in sharing that I was selling it. In fact I was kind of embarrassed to be in direct sales, because we’ve all heard or dealt with “those direct sellers”
My first team member joined in Jan 2017, the month my second son was born. For several months it was just me and her, and mostly her, putting up lots of sales. In fact, I even tried selling jewelry at the time... clearly not a good match, considering I never get dressed in real clothes. Once I started to come out of my baby fog, I started to see what this business could be. I started going to the team trainings, and one particular training, Heidi laid out how to make money in the business. The steps were there, there weren’t that many, and I saw the possibility. I was going for it. And as soon as I heard there was a trip for 2 to Hawaii involved, I was hooked. That was my new goal.
I dove in head first. I started partying hard, I recruited, I soaked up knowledge, I asked to be mentored then did everything she told me. My team started growing and in October 2017, I sold $7000 in Tupperware myself and entered in to the director qualification program. By January 2018 I stepped up to director and earned a car at the same time, and 6 months later, I earned that trip to Hawaii.
Here I am now, with a team of 45 awesome ladies and we’re growing.
I’m learning so much about myself and my passions. I love connecting with my team members. I love teaching. I love marketing and social media and all things direct sales. I am a sponge. I read, listen to and watch anything I can get my hands on on these topics.
These passions are leading me somewhere big, I can feel it. And I’m beyond excited that you’re on this journey with me!
The best part, I get to work this business around my family, the reason for everything I do in this crazy life!
