red cedar lodge.
I received a stay at the Red Cedar Lodge to facilitate my review. All thoughts are 100% honest and my own. I recently had the opportunity to explore #Charlescityia with my friends in the North Iowa Bloggers. We were so fortunate to get to stay at the Red Cedar Lodge.
We stayed at the Sunrise Cottage and the view and accommodations were outstanding. There were 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms downstairs, and a loft with a double bed and bunk bed.
Upon arriving, we were greeted by Ginger from the Charles City Chamber of Commerce, and the owner of the Red Cedar Lodge, Lorraine Winterink. Ginger gave us a bag full of goodies to help us explore the downtown (Thank you!!)
and Lorraine gave us a little history about their lodge. You can read more about that on my friend Laura's blog All Things Travel.
We explored the area around the cabin and took a short walk down to the river.
On our way to the river, we found the hot tub (which I didn't get a chance to use, guess I'll have to go back!) and the fire pit.
Once we got down to the river, it was so beautiful and peaceful down there. During the spring and summer season, they have kayaks you can use. I would love to come kayak the Cedar River and stay in the lodge.
After dinner at the Pub on the Cedar, where we were given delicious house appetizers (chicken buffalo dip and spinach artichoke dip) and enjoyed a meal and friendship,
we enjoyed an evening chatting by the fire. And thank goodness for the high speed wi-fi!
Overall the accommodations were fantastic. I didn't know this little getaway existed before this trip, but I'm already planning a weekend this winter, with cross country skiing, and hot chocolate by the fire.
Check out their Facebook page, but better yet, next time you're looking for a getaway, try the Red Cedar Lodge in Charles City.
