Globe Thistle
Some fun facts:
1. Also knownn as Echinops (EK-i-nops)
2. Blooms in summer
3. Height: 2-4'
4. Prefers well-drained dry soil, tolerates drought.
5. Can be used in dried arrangements--cut before flowers are fully open.
We have globe thistle in our perennial bed next to our garden. 
The leaves look like the thistle weed, but once it produces the flower, you can look beyond the thistle because the bloom is so neat.
