How I Use Essential Oils.
I have been using essential oils for the past few years. Slowly, over time, I have acquired quite the collection of oils and have been learning about them as I go. I was first introduced to essential oils when I started making my own body and cleaning products.
Since then I have acquired a collection: citronella, clove, peppermint, lemon, lavender, orange, tea tree, lemon balm, cinnamon leaf, eucalyptus, geranium, ylang ylang, rose, basil, and clary sage to name a few...
I am certainly not an expert, but I do think essential oils can be a nice addition to anyone's home.
If you are wanting to get started but don't know what oils to get, my recommendation would be lavender, peppermint, and lemon. I use these 3 the most. After these, I would say tea tree oil and orange. Also, it is important to get therapeutic grade oils, so you know they are just the oils with no additives or mystery ingredients.
Lavender: calming. I use it in my face lotion (just coconut oil) and also like to put in my diffuser or make a spritz to use throughout the day
Peppermint: can be alerting. helps me with headaches, tummy aches, and car sickness. I also use it in my homemade toothpaste and make a salt, coconut oil, and peppermint body scrub for the shower.
Lemon: is great to put in your all purpose cleaner. Its a nice refreshing, clean oil.
Tea Tree Oil: Is an antifungal/antibacterial, so is good to put in cleaners
Orange: another citrus oil that smells clean and fresh and is good added to cleaners, especially laundry detergent.
Essential oils are fun to get into. They can be an investment but don't have to be. You can order oils through a Young Living or do Terra dealer. I started with a oil starter pack from Mountain Rose Herbs and have ordered some from Eden's Garden. . The Healing House in Clear Lake also sells oils.
