What we CAN do.

I am sad.

I am disappointed.

In fact, I am a bit angry.

The election did not turn out the way I was hoping. My heart is broken that we have chosen a leader who openly demeans and makes fun of those in the minorities: people with disabilities, women, other races, etc. The things he has said in the past and during his presidential campaign are not forgivable. And for this I'm sad.

I'm mostly saddened for my nieces, and for my unborn child. I, in no way, want them to grow up in a world where its ok to say the things he has said about women.

Ever.

No excuses.

It's not okay.

But the reality of the situation is that he is our elected 45th President of the United States.

And here's what we CAN do.

STOP the hate.

STOP the angry comments on social media.

STOP the debate.

Accept the reality, take the higher road of love and move forward.

Things look dire right now. We are all in shock. But I assure you, life goes on. As I've learned through grief, the sun continues to rise and fall, presenting a new day every 24 hours.

It's our choice.

To smile more at our neighbors.

To lend a helping hand to strangers.

To give those that need it something to hope for.

To lead by example.

To teach our children how to treat others.

To show empathy and compassion toward others.

To listen.

To be kind.

All of the little people are watching us.

It's up to us.

I'ts what we CAN do, and also what we HAVE to do.
