homemade hot sauce!
I've been experimenting with featuring things on certain days of the week here. For a few months, I was sharing posts on 5 things Tuesday, but I think I'm going to start a Tupperware Tuesday instead, and share a recipe I've made using my tupperware. Here's the first installment of Tupperware Tuesday. Enjoy! I drug my feet on doing anything with my peppers this year.. but I'm so glad I at least got one batch of hot sauce made. I made some last year, and it was so good, but of course I forgot to write down the recipe. Well, no longer friends..thanks to my new tupperware business, I now have an excuse to blog my recipes!
Easy hot sauce--made in my tupperware chef series 6 qt sauté pan.
Things you need: pan, blender, peppers, water, garlic, onion, vinegar, jars to store in.
First step. Put on gloves--very important. And even if you're wearing gloves, I suggest not rubbing your eyes for a whole day. Trust me on this.
You can use any hot peppers you want to use, in this case I used cayenne and serrano peppers.
Wash your peppers and cut tops off...Chop in half (I leave pretty big pieces because they just get soft and cook down anyways. I leave the seeds in them, because we like extra hot, and I'm super lazy.
Throw them in your stainless steel tupperware pan with a cup and a half of water, 4 cloves of garlic, and onion (if you want).
Cook for 20-25 minutes until the liquid cooks off and the peppers are soft.
Let cool a little, then transfer to a blender, add about a cup of vinegar, and blend.
You can add more or less vinegar, depending on how thick you like your hot sauce.
Transfer to ball jars and store in the freezer up to 6 months.
I use this to make sauces for our stir fries and it adds just the kick of spice we love.
I have to add, these peppers were in my fridge stored in my fridgesmart tupperware for 2 weeks before I got to doing anything with them (major procrastination going on over here!) Thank goodness for my tupperware, helping me preserve my harvest even when I'm lazy!
