I passed! yoga

I'm officially a certified yoga instructor.  It took me almost an entire year to complete the online yoga teacher training, but looking back, I wouldn't have done it any different.

I registered for the course on October 3, 2014, hours before I found out I was pregnant with Baby David.  After learning I was going to have a baby, I wondered if I should even finish the coursework--would I really have time once I had a newborn in tow?  During my first trimester, I powered through the books and most of the final exam, but procrastinated on some of the papers and the videos.  Well, things changed quite a bit, and I had a little bit more time on my hands this summer than I originally planned.

Finally, on Labor Day weekend, I decided to just finish the training and buckled down. I spent the whole day editing and finishing all of the written papers.  Thankfully, Dave is supportive (and a good sport!) and was my student in both of the videos I had to record and turn in.  Watching the videos made us laugh and was a great learning experience for both of us.

I'm not sure it has sunk in that I'm an "official" yoga teacher.  Yoga has been a huge part of my life for a long time. I have written about yoga on my other blog herehere and here.

Now, my next task is to figure out how I want yoga to be a part of my life. Do I want to teach classes? Or one on one? Or teach kids? Or combine it with my skills as an occupational therapist somehow? Or maybe not teach at all, just develop my own individual practice, as part of my journey in life.

The beauty is, I don't have to figure it out right now.  I finished the coursework and I'm going to take some time to enjoy that.

I’m not sure where my yoga will take me, but I’m looking forward to the ride.

Namaste.
