use nice words.

I was perusing Facebook and came across a quote from "On the Banks of Squaw Creek" blog about roundup. In all capital letters she wrote: "USE NICE WORDS." That really struck me. What an amazingly simple motto, that can make a huge difference in your life and the life of those around you.

I had a recent experience with someone using not so nice words. While the person had every right to be disappointed, their words were harsh, and they hurt my feelings. It really got me thinking about my conversations (in person and online) during the course of my day. Am I always using nice words? If not, why not?

There are things in this world that aren't fair. And there are people that aren't going to treat you nicely. But it's your choice how to react. You can use mean words and fight back, or you can take a deep breath and always use nice words. Usually nice words will counteract anything negative that was said before. While it is really hard sometimes, I choose to always "use nice words."
