pregnancy and infant loss remembrance month.

15HoppCM_0025October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.  I didn't know this until March 11 of this year, when I joined the shittiest club in the world and became a "loss mom." According to Wikipedia...

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day is a day of remembrance for pregnancy loss and infant death, which includes but is not limited to miscarriagestillbirthSIDS, or the death of a newborn. It is observed annually in the United States and Canada and, in recent years, in the United Kingdom and in the Australian States of Western Australia and New South Wales, in Italy on behalf of a charity named Piccoli Angeli on October 15.

Before March, this month/day didn't really mean anything to me.  I felt sympathetic and sad for the families who had lost but I had no idea I would be joining them.

I'm using this month as an opportunity, a chance for me to share my story, and maybe educate those around me about what its like to be on this side of infant loss.

For the month of October I will be sharing blog posts about my experiences with losing Baby David.  Not every post will be about pregnancy or infant loss, but scattered throughout the month I will share our story and some of my thoughts and feelings about loss.  I'm using this month as a way to remember, to honor, and to continue to heal.
